My rule of thumb is this: every person you turn away because your product or service isn’t right for them turns into three great customers down the road. Every bad sale costs you five.
Being upfront with your customers … what a novel idea! We have to remember that we’re a service organization; we’re here to make it easier for others to do their jobs. This is something I’ve tried to remind myself of and live by in my career for the last few years. Without my customers, I’m just a guy playing with computers.
